Get Ready for High-Style Delights at Sequoia Park Zoo’s 6th Annual Zootini Gala

August 9, 2012 - This year’s Zootini Gala features a pink and silver theme to celebrate the salmon, one of the animals to be featured in the upcoming Zoo project, Watershed Heroes. Join friends and zoo residents at Sequoia Park Zoo’s high-style fundraiser on Saturday, August 11 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. This year, the Zoo is hosting its first online auction in advance of the event and bidding will open on Friday, July 27.

ZootiniZootini is a fun-filled night out that will feature live jazz music by Magnolia, delicious gourmet food catered by Uniquely Yours, auctions, and up close animal encounters with Zookeeper talks—all surrounded by the beautiful redwoods. The “Monkey Bar”, hosted by Six Rivers Brewery, will be in full swing and feature mouth-watering “zoo-tinis” including this year’s theme cocktail the Silver Salmontini, plus the ever-popular Monkey Nuzzler, Pink Flamingo, and Black Bear Bliss. More traditional cocktails, as well as a wide selection of beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be on hand to satisfy every palate—wild to domestic.

The silent and live auctions are a great way to support the Zoo, and auctioneer Rex Bohn will be doing the honors.  If you’re feeling lucky, try your hand at the Lucky You! wine pull hosted by local wine specialists 2 doors Down: purchase a ticket for $10 and pull out a bottle of wine – which could be worth anywhere between $5 and $150 – it’s all in the luck of the draw.

“Zootini is a really fun way to support Sequoia Park Zoo and everyone is looking forward to a record turnout this year,” said Nicole Spencer, Director of Development & Communications. “With river otter, salmon, and bald eagle exhibits coming to the Zoo, we need the support of our community more than ever.”Glasses

Advance tickets are encouraged and available for purchase online, at the Zoo ticket booth, or by calling 442-5649. Prices are $45/members; $50/general; or $60 at the gate. A limited number of tables for eight are also available for advance purchase at $360 and include reserved seating for eight, your personal table butler, and your name in the program.

Zootini keeps growing in popularity and draws all types of all crowds. “For some, Zootini is just a great excuse to get dressed up and have a fun night out,” said Nicole Spencer. “Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us.”

Most areas of the Zoo will be open for exploration throughout the evening. Come walk among the animals, support our local Zoo, and mark your calendars for Saturday, August 11–connect with the wild inside you at the Sequoia Park Zoo, located at 3414 W St. in Eureka
